Voigtlander Bessa Leica

Leica, Zeiss, Voigtlander?

I was considering buying a 35mm rangefinder and a lens to go along with it. Of course Leica is said to be the best, but what about Voigtlander? A 50mm f2 ZM Zeiss would be great, too. My question is, would a Voigtlander “M” mount lens be a good compromise? Like the 35mm f2.5 Skopar? Or would a Leica or Zeiss be something better?

One question I cannot seem to find help with is whether or not a Zeiss ZM or a Voigtlander lens work on a Leica rangefinder? While I would use the lens on a 35mm Bessa or Ikon rangefinder, I would also want it to transfer to a Leica M digital rangfinder, such as the M8. Would this be possible? What else should I look for?

Glass is everything.

If you find an inexpensive ‘M’ compatible Voigtlander then go with it. They make a nice, affordable rangefinder.

Avoid all questions of compatibility and invest in the Summicron. The Leica glass is sharp and beautifully tonal at the same time. Very pleasing. You will have to spend a bit more cash on the Leica glass but that will soon be forgotten when you see the prints.
