Upgrade Camera Body Or Lens First?

At the moment i have a Sony A200 have had it for about 1 year and finally getting to grips what settings to use instead of just using “Auto” mode.

I love the camera to bits its fantastic the only thing i think i would like to be better is the viewfinder which is a pentamirror rather than a pentaprism, I might of been happy with a mirror if i had never used a pentaprism viewfinder but i previously owned a Pentax K10D camera.

So i am thinking of maybe upgrading to the A700 ? The other advantages are of course 5 FPS compared to 3 and weather sealed body and a big brighter screen.

But i want a 500mm lens probably the 150-500mm sigma lens as i am a keen wildlife photographer.

What would you save for first as both are for me at least big payouts.

Well as a photographer my natural instinct is to go for the camera body because I have a 500mm lens and don’t use it so much. I, however, base my photography more in portraits and the like, not so much nature or wild life. On the few occasions on which I have conducted such shoots I have found the 500mm lens very useful.

So while I would go for a camera body job it sounds like the right move for you would be the lens, based solely on the fact that you shoot wildlife. If that is something you love but don’t do often though, I’d go with the body.
