Lens Macro Nikon

I’m looking for a macro lens to fit my Nikon D70.?

So I called the local camera store and was quoted over $500 for a macro a Nikon macro lens. I’m looking for something to shoot micro stock photos and my 18-55mm is nice but it has trouble focusing when I get very close. Any suggestions where to find a nice macro lens, preferably under $200.

If you cannot afford a true macro lens you may want to look at extension tubes. There is some light drop off that you have to compensate for but otherwise they can give you great shots at a reasonable price. Macro filter lenses also work failry well but not as well as extension tubes. They usually come in +1 , +2, +4 and +10/ Usually not +3 as you put the +1 and +2 both on the camera to get+3 The macro lens is the top way to go but the most expensive and buying inferior glass may prove frustrating. Someone mentioned adorama, they have an excellent used section as does BandH so that could be an option. I had an old 35-105 nikkor lens with macro that worked really well but its an AI so you have to focus manually
