Adaptor Ring Lens

a few questions about choosing the right telescope and accessories for me?

i am only wanting to spend around 600$ give or take. (prefer not to spend this much, but know i will have to)
i am wanting one for astrophotograpy. i have a rebel xti camera.
i know i will need a t adaptor. does it matter what kind? how do they fit?
as for the telescope i would like to see constellations, rings around saturn, craters, and such.
i would like one that has a sky tracker on it, one that will move to where i want it to go. one that is easy to use.
also, i know you cannot look at the sun through a telescope unless it is a special solar one, can you buy a lens to put on a normal scope?
please list what all i would need, and preferably some links and prices.. thanks in advance!!

i just want to add that there are no stores around her to buy telescopes, so do not tell me to go talk to a person in a store.
i do have plenty of dark sky viewing places not bothered by city lights that i can go to.
there is not an astronomy club here for me to join.

I will tell you that collecting antique photons is a hard business. Expensive too. $600 bucks won’t do it. You need a very stable equatorial mount that is computer controlled. You need large setting circles or digital setting circles to find your targets. Finally, you need a four inch ED refractor or 6 inch or larger reflector. “Goto” is really pretty inexpensive, but stable is expensive.

First, do you love astronomy? Do it visually for a year before you commit to astrophotography. Do you have a dark site you can get to within an hours drive?

Join some of the many yahoo groups that discuss and teach astrophotography. QCUIAG (quick cam and unusual imagers group) and SCT-USERS (Schmidt Cassegrain Telescope users) will help you learn the ropes. Taking many short exposures and “stacking” them (combining them with a computer) lets you get the most image out of your images. How to adapt different cameras to different telescopes is a starter subject. Gleaning these groups’ message archives will answer ALL your questions.

Solar photography is available in your price range, if you want to specialize in our closest star. Meade makes a Coronado Personal Solar Telescope (PST) in two different wavelengths Hydrogen Alpha (red) or Calcium K (purple). Either will give you magnetic storms and prominences coronal disturbances. Because of the sun’s closeness you are trying to cut down exposure time instead of gathering light for long exposure. Because of that, the cheapy mount that comes with the PST is suitable for photography.
